Much of what Mathias Döpfner writes is bizarre, ridiculous, irritating. Some things are so absurd that you have to laugh. But at some sentences the laughter freezes. The leaked messages reveal the mindset of one of the most powerful men in this country. And what he writes about the climate crisis is frightening, regardless of the context: “I’m very much in favor of climate change. Warm phases of civilization have always been more successful than cold ones. We shouldn’t fight climate change, we should adapt to it.”
