Yellow everywhere you look. With 2,500 yellow, bulging balloons, the British artist Martin Creed has transformed the foyer of the Museum of Concrete Art in Ingolstadt into a bright yellow sea. “Half the air in a given space” is the subtitle of the work, which clearly illustrates the relationship to the volume of the room. If you want to get into and up the museum, you have to make your way through the sea of balloons. But what does having to mean here? Anyone who comes to the museum can’t help but walk up to the balloons, throw them up, dive under them, squeeze through the sea of yellow. It’s as simple as it is fun and not only wonderfully Instagrammable, but also a fantastic start to Martin Creed’s exhibition “I don’t know what art is”.
