Marriage proposal fail: man catches slap and soft drink shower

Apparently this marriage proposal backfired. At a Major League Baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox, a fan proposed to his girlfriend. In the midst of many fans, the man gets on his knees – his girlfriend realizes what is about to happen – is touched. But she probably didn’t expect that: The man pulls a red toy ring out of a box. This doesn’t go down well with his girlfriend. After the slap, the young woman also pours her drink in her boyfriend’s face. Is it all just a planned gag? A dent can be seen in the man’s pocket, possibly containing the actual engagement ring. Some users on TikTok suspect that the man wanted to preface his real proposal with a prank, others suspect that the scene is set with the aim of landing a viral hit. Unlike the marriage proposal, that worked out pretty well. Some media suspect a guerrilla ad campaign by swimwear label Love Lost Manhattan, whose bikini may not have been worn by the woman entirely coincidentally, and whose CEO is probably even less coincidental the protagonist in the video.
