A 58-year-old died on a hike in Upper Bavaria. The man had fallen around 40 meters at a point on the Schnappenberg near Marquartstein (Traunstein district), the police said. He was so badly injured on impact that he died on the spot.
According to the police, the body was found and recovered by the mountain rescue service on Friday night. On Thursday evening, an acquaintance of the man had given up a missing person report.
The 58-year-old set off alone on Thursday morning and did not come back at the agreed time. The mountain rescue service had searched for the hiker from Hungary with a helicopter, two mountain rescue dog handlers and a drone, among other things.
