Moderator Markus Lanz had to cancel his talk show planned for Wednesday evening at short notice due to cold symptoms and hoarseness. Federal Economics Minister Robert Habeck was to come as a guest.

After 1729 editions of his talk show, ZDF presenter Markus Lanz had to cancel a show due to illness for the first time. The edition planned for Wednesday evening was canceled at short notice. “Unfortunately, the show with Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck has to be canceled due to cold symptoms and Markus Lanz’s hoarseness. We hope for your understanding and are happy that our moderator will be back tomorrow,” said the production company Mhoch2.

The broadcaster ZDF, who also reported the failure on twitter announced, sent the 53-year-old recovery wishes: “Unfortunately, the show has to be canceled at short notice today. We wish you a speedy recovery!” It says on the social media channel.

A Lanz talk with Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck was planned after the Champions League coverage. “The show would have been scheduled for midnight. The ‘Future Prize’ and the ‘Sportstudio’ went according to plan,” said the broadcaster. Instead of the talk show, a “Heute journal update” was broadcast from 11:55 p.m. and the “Auslandsjournal” documentary “Russia, Ukraine and the world” from 12:10 a.m.

It is not yet clear when the Lanz-Habeck talk will be made up for. When asked about this under the ZDF post in the short message service, the broadcaster replied “currently” that it was not yet known.

It is not yet known whether the program with Markus Lanz can be broadcast as planned on Thursday evening, said a spokesman for the production company Mhoch2 when asked star.
