“I tore my anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a fight and I just came out of an operation to replace it,” Mark Zuckerberg, the creator of Meta, announced this Friday in a post on Instagram where we see him lying down in a hospital bed, his knee in a splint. The tech mogul was injured while training in MMA (mixed martial arts), a violent combat sport.
“I was training for an MMA competition early next year, but now it’s a bit delayed. I always look forward to participating after my recovery,” he explains after thanking the medical team.
A fight against Elon Musk
Mark Zuckerberg is a fan of martial arts and participates in ju-jitsu competitions of which he posts videos. Last summer, he responded to the challenge launched by Elon Musk, boss of X (ex-Twitter), to face him in an MMA fight. After discussing a fight date in Italy in August, the meeting ultimately did not take place.
The two tech giants have been at odds for years over their opposing views of the world, from politics to artificial intelligence, and their animosity seems to have deepened in early July with the launch of Threads, X’s direct competitor.
