Five days before his 75th birthday, Marius Müller-Westernhagen publishes an opulent review of his musical life’s work.

On the occasion of his upcoming 75th birthday on December 6th, Germany’s biggest rock star isn’t going anywhere: he’s being gifted with a new album Marius Müller-Westernhagen (74) presents himself and his fans with a comprehensive showcase of his musical work to date.

On “Westernhagen 75 (75 Songs / 1974 – 2023)” he presents one song from his 28 previous albums for each year of his life, in chronological order and at least one piece from each album. The journey through time extends from his hit debut “The First Time” to his late work “Das einer Leben”, which was created under Corona conditions in 2022.

Pearls of early work are also celebrated

To the delight of his older fans, Marius in the compilation by no means neglects orchestral gems from his early work such as “We were still children”, “Marion from Pinneberg” or “Taximann”. Of course, all the big hits from his later albums, such as “Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz”, “Mit 18”, “Let us live”, “Freiheit”, “Sexy” and “Willenlos” are also collected in the iconic compilation.

In addition to the well-known album versions, Westernhagen’s retrospective also includes some previously unreleased versions of his songs. For example, a rehearsal room version of the scandal song “Dicke”, “Limitless” in a live duet with the rapper Sido or a recording of his performance of “Steh auf” at a “Wetten,dass..?” performance in 1992.

“75Live” tour in May 2024: “Make a little noise again”

“It touches me very much and fills me with gratitude that my work as an artist has received such appreciation through this retrospective,” says Marius Müller-Westernhagen about the publication of this musical birthday cake.

In May 2024, on his “75Live” tour, he will once again fire off the fireworks of his greatest hits in front of an audience after a long break from concerts. “I want to make a little noise again,” said the artist about the tour announcement. “Let’s rock! Damn it, the time demands it!”
