Marcel Sabitzer is moving from Bayern Munich to Borussia Dortmund. Nothing unusual – the footballer would not behave on Instagram like a lovesick teenager.

As Marcel Sabitzer moved from RB Leipzig to his competitor in Munich two years ago, he posted a photo from his childhood days on his Instagram account. It showed the footballer as a little boy in front of the Christmas tree in his new club’s shirt, thumbs up.

“Even as a child, my Bayern jersey was my greatest pride, I got a new one every Christmas,” said the midfielder in his first interview after the transfer to the record champions. As a child, he “always walked around in a Bayern jersey”. He did that at least in 54 competitive games as an adult. In the case of Sabitzer, the stereotypical story of having slept in the club’s bedding as a young boy seemed to be true. But that’s over now, the great love from childhood has come to an end – including a big separation drama on social media.

Marcel Sabitzer deletes Instagram photos from his time in Bayern

Sabitzer is dissatisfied with his favorite club and wants to leave. Most recently he was loaned out to Manchester United, and there is probably no sporting future for him in Munich. A look at the Austrian’s Instagram account gives an idea of his relationship with FC Bayern. There he has at least temporarily deleted all the pictures from his time with the German record champions. A radical cut, as you know it from separations between couples. It’s usually about hurt feelings – the assumption is that the Sabitzer case could be similar.

In any case, the footballer’s behavior is rather unusual in a business where it usually raises no more than a shrug when a player changes clubs. It’s just part of it. Sabitzer also thought better of it after the extinguishing action and restored at least three pictures from his time in Munich – including the child’s photo in the FCB jersey. Incidentally, the photos from his previous stations RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig as well as the loan to Manchester United remained untouched.

The next stop in Sabitzer’s career is Bayern’s number one hunter: the 29-year-old is moving to Borussia Dortmund. BVB officially announced the transfer on Monday evening. According to media reports, the fee should be 20 million euros. And a picture of the Austrian in black and yellow will certainly soon appear on Sabitzer’s Instagram account.
