CEO Edwin van der Sar called the situation “terrible for everyone” and promised to pay more attention in the future. Ajax board chairman Leen Meijaard spoke of a “dramatic situation for everyone involved. It is devastating for the women who had to deal with the behavior. When we found out about it, we acted immediately and carefully considered what was best to do – all in consultation with CEO Edwin van der Sar and supported by an external expert.”

After retiring as a professional, he has worked in the club’s management since 2012. His contract was recently extended to 2026.
