Some people make New Year’s resolutions. Some may plan to work through a catalog of games for next year. These can be games that have already been released or those that will not come onto the market until 2024. Not all of these PC games appear on Steam, but an enormous majority do. And so you can already determine which titles most users registered on the sales platform are looking forward to. We would like to forward this question directly to you, the loyal PCGH readers and members in the Extreme forum.
The ten most wanted Steam games for the coming year
So that you can get a rough overview of what Steam users are particularly looking forward to in 2024, we have put together a list of the ten most wanted games on Steam globally (as of December 19, 2023, daily changes possible). This is based on SteamDB data and, in addition to the rumored or certain release date, includes the number of followers, the developer, the publisher and the genre.

- Hollow Knight: Silksong – Release: expected in 2024, followers: approx. 267,000, developer: Team Cherry, publisher: also, genre: action-adventure.
- Black Myth: Wukong – Release: August 20, 2024, followers: approx. 247,500, developer: Game Science, publisher: also, genre: action RPG.
- Frostpunk 2 – Release: 2024, followers: approx. 98,000, developer: 11 bit studios, publisher: also, genre: city building strategy simulation.
- Ark 2 – Release: expected at the end of 2024, followers: approx. 126,500, developers: Studio Wildcard and Grove Street Games, publisher: Studio Wildcard, genre: survival action adventure (MMORPG).
- Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl – Release: Q1 2024, followers: approx. 191,500, developer GSC Game World, publisher: also, genre: open-world first-person shooter.
