ManCity coach Pep Guardiola on Raheem Sterling: “Barca are very attractive”
Raheem Sterling has been traded at FC Barcelona for some time. Now his trainer Pep Guardiola commented on the cause.
Manchester City’s head coach Pep Guardiola (50) has commented on the transfer rumors about a possible interest of FC Barcelona in offensive player Raheem Sterling (26) and has not categorically ruled out a move to Catalonia.
Guardiola wants to work on the 26-year-old’s whereabouts, but that might not be enough if Barca knock on the door. “We have to work on it, but if Barcelona are interested in one of our players, I am sure they can get one too,” the city coach told the Mundo Deportivo.

For the man, who himself stood on Barca’s sideline at Camp Nou for years, this is also due to the great importance of the club – even if the Catalans’ sporting successes have largely failed to materialize in recent months.
“The city, the club, the history – that always means a lot to the players and coaches. Barca are very attractive in good and bad times,” said Guardiola.
Sterling to Barca? Change abroad possible
Sterling, who is no longer part of the regular staff at the Cityzens, is considered a candidate for a winter transfer to Barcelona. Ex-midfield star Xavi recently took over the reins as the new head coach. He should lead the Blaugrana back to old strength.
Guardiola, on the other hand, has been on the bridge of the Skyblues since 2016. Since then he has been working with Sterling, whose contract in turn runs until 2023.
Sterling himself recently revealed that he was dissatisfied with the minutes he played and was therefore considering other options. “If there was the opportunity to go elsewhere for more playing time, I would be open to it. As an English player, I only know the Premier League and I always imagined that one day I would like to play abroad,” he said Financial Times.
