Man wanted for meditating naked in front of temple

Naturist meditation is not to Indonesia’s taste. Authorities on the island of Bali announced on Tuesday that they were looking for a man filmed naked meditating in a Hindu temple. The images of this person of foreign nationality went viral, much to the dismay of Jakarta.

The island, popular with travelers from around the world, has pledged to crack down on the inappropriate behavior of certain tourists. Bali is regularly the site of incidents, including disrespectful acts towards the predominant Hindu culture on the island. The police identified this man but neither his nationality nor his name were communicated while the individual is still wanted.

Tourists with inappropriate behavior

“We are continuing our investigations into this incident,” said Tedy Riyandi, head of the immigration office in a statement. The immigration office is making “efforts to contact the social media account of the wanted man, but so far there has been no response,” he added.

The video went viral after being reposted several times by a Balinese influencer, Ni Luh Djelantik. Once again stormed by tourists after the wave of Covid-19, the island of Bali regularly expels tourists for behavior deemed inappropriate.

Naked photos

Controversies often arise from tourists who show off in Adam or Eve outfits. In June, a Danish woman was expelled for exhibitionism while riding a motorcycle and in April a Russian was expelled from the country for having published a photo of herself naked in front of a sacred tree.

In June, under pressure from the island’s immigration office, the local government published a guide for tourists wishing to visit Bali.
