Man suspected of killing his 5-year-old daughter before jumping out of window

The tragedy occurred shortly after midnight Thursday evening, in an affluent district of Courbevoie, in the Hauts-de-Seine. A 40-year-old man is suspected of killing his 5-year-old granddaughter before attempting to kill herself by jumping out of a 2nd-floor window of the building, learned 20 minutes from consistent sources, confirming information from Parisian. The man, who had previously also stabbed himself in the carotid artery, was rushed to Pompidou Hospital. The investigations were entrusted to the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police.

The alert was given around midnight by neighbors, alerted by the cries in the apartment and found that the mother was in front of the door. “We are in a context of extremely conflicting separation”, specifies a source close to the investigation. The father was subject to a removal measure and was prohibited from going to the family home and the town of Courbevoie. The police have already intervened twice at their home in less than a month, incidents which would have been settled on the spot. Several complaints for non-presentation of children and violence had been filed on both sides.

Murder investigation

When they arrived at the scene, the police found the mother of the child, she did not seem injured. His ex-companion, he is entrenched in the apartment with their daughter. To the police, he assures that the girl is in the bathroom and alive. But a few minutes later, he appears on the balcony with his face bleeding. A column then forms and breaks through the door. It is then a little after 12:50 a.m.

In the bathroom, the firefighters tried, in vain, to resuscitate the girl in cardio-respiratory arrest. His father, who stabbed himself in the throat before jumping, is still breathing but his vital prognosis is engaged. The prosecution, who went there overnight, opened an investigation for murder. For the time being, neither the father nor the mother are able to be heard.
