Man killed trying to separate couple arguing in front of child

He wanted to intervene to calm the situation. A 47-year-old man died Tuesday evening in Lisieux (Calvados), west of Caen, when he wanted to separate a couple who were arguing, we learned on Wednesday from consistent sources.

The tragedy occurred around 10 p.m. The victim died in the courtyard of a building, after receiving a stab wound to the throat, according to a police source and the Lisieux prosecutor’s office.

The couple fled

The man was walking in the street when he was stopped by a disturbance. He then intervened to try to end an argument between the couple in the presence of a young child, according to testimony reported by these same sources.

The couple then fled with the child. One of the two fugitives was arrested, the prosecution said. The investigation must demonstrate whether the blow caused was an accident or intentional homicide.
