Man arrested for child porn – Bavaria

The police arrested a man in the Upper Palatinate when he was downloading child pornography in a hotel room. The investigators tracked down the 45-year-old because he is said to have downloaded and distributed files containing child pornography via a file-sharing service on the Internet. The police were able to find out his whereabouts via the IP address – the man from the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia was staying in the Schwandorf district for professional reasons.

He was arrested in a hotel room last Thursday for possessing and distributing child pornography files. “Already during a first sighting on site, child pornographic files of more than 300 gigabytes were found on an external hard drive,” said the Cybercrime Bavaria central office and the police in the Upper Palatinate on Monday.

The investigators had another search warrant for the man’s residence in North Rhine-Westphalia: There they found several hidden cameras, “with which the accused is said to have filmed female family members during intimate activities,” it said. That is why investigations are also being carried out on suspicion of violation of the most personal sphere of life. The investigators did not want to say how old the victims are and how they are related to the man. The 45-year-old is now in custody.

Since 2020, the Center for Combating Child Pornography and Sexual Abuse on the Internet has been located at the Cybercrime Central Office in Bamberg. This specialist unit focuses on darknet forum operators and users who create, post or sell child pornography material.
