An airsoft pistol can be quite expensive for a youth from Maisach. Last Monday, he and two friends handled the weapon in front of the Maisacher train station. This worried a passer-by so much that he called the police at around 6:35 p.m.
The patrol officers then determined that it was an airsoft gun. The 15-year-old Maisacher brought it with him. The boy was taken to Olching for inspection. His mother picked him up there. According to the police, it is currently being checked whether it is a so-called apparent weapon.
Apparent weapons look very similar to real firearms. If these are similar in size and appearance to a real one, the facts are fulfilled. Irrelevant whether there is actually a real counterpart for this. Because it is forbidden to carry sham weapons in public. This includes airsoft guns. As a rule, disregarding the ban on driving is an administrative offense that can be punished with a fine of up to 10,000 euros.
Airsoft guns are allowed with a projectile energy of less than 0.5 joules, but only if they do not look deceptively like a real gun and are therefore considered to be sham weapons. According to a spokesman for the Olching police, this is obviously the case in this case. However, the review is not yet complete. Airsoft guns with a projectile energy of more than 7.5 joules require a permit and are subject to the Weapons Act.
