Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim is taking parental leave. Her show is therefore returning with special episodes in which the presenter is represented by celebrities.

The science journalist and television presenter Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim (36) has become a mother for the second time. During her parental leave, she now has prominent representation on TV. When the ZDFneo science program “MAITHINK X – The Show” returns from the summer break on September 17th, there will be six special episodes under the motto parental leave representation, as ZDF announced.

Six moderator colleagues then step in for Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim. According to the station, comedienne Hazel Brugger (29), journalist Salwa Houmsi (27), reporter Aminata Belli (31), satirist Oliver Welke (57), psychologist Dr. Leon Windscheid (34) and journalist Eva Schulz (33).

Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim himself says in the ZDF statement: “It’s my mission to spread scientific spirit like a plague – and just because I take a little parental leave, of course it shouldn’t stop! It’s really cool that the station “I support this experiment and that my colleagues have awakened the nerd in them and are getting started. It’s going to be good!”

The new episodes of “MAITHINK It’s about conspiracy theories, greenwashing or the topic of mobility, among other things.

“Shouldn’t be an exclusive academic club”

Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim has hosted the show for two years. In the fall of 2022, she said in an interview with the news agency spot on news about “MAITHINK X – The Show”: “The sad thing about science is that if you don’t study it, you have nothing to do with it after school But it shouldn’t be an exclusive academic club because it contains so many beautiful things. And I’m really happy that through my work I’m helping to ensure that you don’t have to study it to have anything to do with it.”
