Did you miss the early morning news? We have concocted a recap to help you see more clearly.

While the milestone of 100,000 deaths from Covid-19 is about to be crossed in France, the President of the Republic will once again take stock of the health crisis today. For this, Emmanuel Macron will bring together by videoconference fifteen mayors “representative of the territories and political sensitivities”, said the Elysee on Wednesday. These discussions, scheduled from 4 pm, will be the opportunity to discuss “the deployment of the vaccine strategy, the prospects for reopening, the recovery plan as well as the preparation of regional elections” at the end of June. The President of the Republic must then host a ministerial meeting to examine the protocols for reopening the places closed because of the Covid-19 crisis.

We know a little more about the withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan. Like the United States, NATO allies have announced their decision to begin the withdrawal of their forces engaged in the country by May 1. Claiming to have “fulfilled the objective” in Afghanistan, President Joe Biden promised Wednesday that the departure of American troops would not be “hasty”, and urged the Taliban to keep “their commitment” not to threaten the United States. The date chosen to complete the withdrawal is also particularly symbolic, since it is September 11.

PSG now know their opponent for the semi-finals of the Champions League. The reigning European vice-champion will face Manchester City, who qualified on Wednesday at the expense of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (2-1), a score identical to the quarter-final first leg. The Citizens, badly embarked after a goal from Jude Bellingham (15th, 1-0), obtained the qualification on a penalty from Riyad Mahrez (55th, 1-1) and a missile from Foden (75th, 2-1). The first match against Paris is scheduled at the Parc des Princes on April 27 or 28, before returning the following week to England.
