Macron, Darmanin, Le Maire… Who puts photos of politicians on dog droppings?

We searched and searched. But we didn’t find it. For now, we can only tell you half of this amazing dog poop story. But we do not despair that this article will allow us to get our hands on the author(s) hidden behind this strange phenomenon observed in the streets of Rennes.

For several weeks, residents of the Breton capital have regularly encountered dog droppings left on the sidewalks. So far, nothing unusual. Although the law requires dog owners to pick up their droppings, many people shake it off and leave the turd in place. It is on this playing field, which can be slippery, that people from Rennes have discovered small portraits of French politicians, as if pinned on more or less fresh droppings.

“I imagined the person”

“I took the photo on March 18 in a flowerbed in the Colombier district,” says Hélène, who discovered the portrait of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin and his Economy counterpart Bruno Le Maire. “It made me laugh because these are not people that I carry in my heart. Then I imagined the person meticulously setting up the little portraits on the turds, which made me laugh again,” says the Rennaise, still amused by the little installation.

She is not the only one to have crossed paths with these “works of art”. One morning in March, Pierre came across the same scene in the chic Rue de Paris, located just below the Parc du Thabor. “This little pocket happening made me laugh. The modesty of this attack on our greatest men, at the height of an ant, only further reveals the brilliant side of subversion. It’s definitely on the level of Molière in my opinion. I would have liked to think about it myself,” says the Rennes musician.

“No idea who could have done this”

He too was treated to a portrait of Bruno Le Maire but also to a small image of Emmanuel Macron, carefully stuck in the poop using a toothpick. Let us point out that Rennes has been in the hands of the socialists since 1977 and has a more left-wing heart. But the Breton capital also largely contributed to electing Emmanuel Macron in 2017, placing him in the lead on the evening of the first round.

According to Pierre, other haired poops were discovered on the Quai Emile-Zola, very close to the Museum of Fine Arts. Here again, no signature, no claim. “No idea who could have done this,” admits Hélène.
