Macron and Dati expected this Thursday at the Ateliers Medicis in Clichy-sous-Bois

It is a particularly political move on the theme of culture. This Thursday afternoon, Emmanuel Macron will go to Clichy-sous-Bois, in Seine-Saint-Denis, with his Minister of Culture Rachida Dati for a visit to the Ateliers Médicis, a place whose aim is to bring out new artistic voices linked to the territories, announced the Elysée.

“During this trip, the Head of State will discuss emancipation through culture with young people from the municipalities of Clichy and Montfermeil. He will reaffirm his desire to continue working to provide better access to culture and to make it a lever for equal opportunities, in working-class neighborhoods, in rural and urban areas,” affirmed the presidency.

Theater will become compulsory in middle school

The trip will therefore above all have a strong political dimension since the Head of State will be accompanied by Rachida Dati, also Les Républicains mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris. The surprise arrival to the government of this right-wing woman, former Minister of Justice of Nicolas Sarkozy, was the sensation of the new government formed last Thursday under the leadership of Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.

The Ateliers Médicis, located in Clichy-sous-Bois and in the neighboring town of Montfermeil, two disadvantaged localities in Seine-Saint-Denis, welcome artists from all disciplines in residence.

“The President of the Republic notably returned (Tuesday) during his press conference on the importance of cultural policies and announced that theater would become a mandatory part of college from the next school year, like music and plastic arts,” recalled the Elysée.
