Police officers from the BAC were targeted by gunfire on Monday, around 7 p.m., in the district of La Duchère, in Lyon. The RAID was called in to help.
“One or more individuals (…) deliberately shot at national police. Fortunately, no one was injured ”, declared the prefect of the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region Pascal Mailhos during a press conference organized this Monday shortly after 11 pm.

The police reportedly retaliated and fired back without knowing the exact circumstances of this exchange of fire for the time being. The Raid was called in to assist. An operation was reportedly carried out later this Monday evening in a building in the neighborhood.

“We are in a very strong place of dealings (…) the actions that we are taking to pound the places of dealings as the Minister of the Interior and the government wish are producing effects and undoubtedly there are reactions, serious reactions that obviously I condemn and which will be specified in the context of the investigation that the prosecution has just initiated, ”also declared the prefect.

“For the moment the sector has been sealed off since this event and a certain number of searches are being carried out under the conduct of the public prosecutor”, added Pascal Mailhos.
