There are still 182 days until the European Football Championship in our own country – and the DFB team wants to prepare for the tournament in Thuringia. National coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will be based at the Weimarer Land spa and golf resort in Blankenhain near Weimar from May 26th to 31st.
According to the DFB, the hotel prevailed over other possible training centers. However, the resort was obviously not only chosen because of the facility’s facilities. “We are deliberately going to East Germany with the national team before we get ours Quarter in the south of the country,” sports director Rudi Völler is quoted as saying.

Julian Nagelsmann is particularly impressed by the newly built in-house training facilities – “perfect conditions,” says the national coach. “But we can also make the best possible use of the days in the Weimar region away from the training field to get in the mood and commit to the European Championships as a team. We need a very special team spirit in order to get as far as possible in the tournament.”
However, whether this will develop does not only depend on the district. After the national team’s recent disappointing performances, Nagelsmann and his coaching team still have a lot of work to do.
The hotel boasts extensive sports and wellness offerings and luxurious furnishings. According to booking platforms, an overnight stay is usually available from around 200 euros. The construction of the sports fields on the site and other infrastructure measures were funded by the state with around one million euros Thuringia supports.
The European Football Championship in Germany begins on June 14, 2024 with the opening game between the hosts and Scotland in Munich and continues until the final on July 14 in Berlin. Because the German team will also play in Stuttgart and Frankfurt in the preliminary round, the actual European Championship quarters will be set up in the south of the country. The English national team will be moving to the Weimarer Land spa and golf resort during the tournament.
