Lukas Klaschinski: That’s why it’s important to talk about your feelings

psychologist and starColumnist Lukas Klaschinski has established psychotainment in Germany, especially through his successful podcasts. He himself had difficulty talking about his feelings for years. In the star he reveals why that has changed – and why he recommends it to everyone else.

Lukas Klaschinski, born in Berlin in 1983, has been working in the media for more than 20 years. He has made psychotainment, the mixture of psychology and entertainment, popular in Germany, particularly through his successful podcasts. Together with best-selling author Stefanie Stahl, he started the psychology podcast “That’s just how I am,” and they both write the 14-day column “PsychoLogisch” in Stern. Klaschinski is also successful as an author. In his new book “Feel Dich Ganz” he devotes himself to the topic of feelings and reveals a surprising amount about himself. A conversation about the value of vulnerability, escaping your own emotions and what really matters in the end.

Mr. Klaschinski, most of us find it difficult to come to terms with ourselves. You, on the other hand, even go public with this process. Why do they do that?
I see myself as a mirror for other people and like to share my experiences with them. Ultimately, they can also learn something about themselves through my stories. Everything I try to hide inside has an impact on me. That’s why I want to create as much clarity within myself and the world as possible. The price for this is that it may put me in a bad light and some people may not understand it. But that’s not my story, it’s hers.

Why did you decide to take this step now?
I had a near death experience. Once you’ve felt that once, once you’ve been so close to death, you know what’s important to you in life. It was clear to me: I wanted to do a few things differently. And I would like to share this journey with other people because I think that many people feel the same way as me.
