Luggage gone: the suitcase chaos at the airports – travel

Suitcase chaos at the airport: many holidaymakers are not where their luggage is. If you want a relaxing holiday, it’s best not to pack anything at all.

It doesn’t have to be half the household effects when it comes to what people like to have with them on vacation. This even applies to fans of vans, who like to travel as self-sufficiently as possible in their camper vans in the direction of the Algarve or Apulia. Because people don’t need too much, especially if they’re lying on the beach most of the time anyway.

But most vacationers would like to take a little something with them on vacation. A second bikini, three or four T-shirts to change into, various charging cables, maybe even a book. And then it quickly fills up, the suitcase. Under certain circumstances, even the second tablet and the air mattress have to stay at home with a heavy heart so that he can approach.

However, traveling with 20 kilos of luggage is associated with a considerable risk this summer. Two warning examples from the past few days: An Irishman, freshly returned from vacation, immediately bought a new ticket at Dublin airport – the cheapest he could get, for less than 20 euros. Not because he wanted to travel again, but because this way he could get back to the security area and the baggage carousel to look for his missing suitcase himself. Apparently he couldn’t expect any help from airport staff, so after a week of waiting in vain he took matters into his own hands. With success, as they say. But what does success mean? The man now has his dirty socks back – at the price of having used up all the reserves of strength he had on vacation.

Example two: A passenger plane recently brought around a thousand abandoned suitcases and handbags from London to Detroit. From there, the luggage should somehow be delivered to their owners, who are now scattered all over the USA and, due to the lack of change of clothes, probably no longer smell particularly good. The actually scheduled passenger flight had been canceled that day, so the machine was unexpectedly free to transport suitcases.

Everything that you can’t wear on your own body or that doesn’t fit in your hand luggage is better left at home this summer. Even if the large suitcase should arrive surprisingly: It is easier to pull a trolley behind you if all the rental cars at the destination are fully booked.
