Louis Aliot is a candidate for the school uniform experiment

Louis Aliot, the mayor (RN) of Perpignan, will announce this Thursday his intention to “make the proposal for the experimentation of a uniform outfit in the schools of Perpignan”. The first magistrate of the prefecture of Pyrénées-Orientales must make the announcement this Thursday during a press conference.

The Secretary of State in charge of the city, Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, said she was “very favorable” on Tuesday to the experimentation of a “school outfit”, especially in the priority districts of the city policy. The proposal for a uniform was launched at the end of July by Gabriel Attal, Minister of National Education and Youth of France. He has since also come out in favor of banning the abaya in French schools.

Robert Ménard takes up the idea… which he had put forward in 2014

In August, Robert Ménard, the mayor (DVD) of Béziers had also announced his candidacy for wearing a school uniform “as is the case in England”. An idea he had already put forward in 2014, shortly after his first election as head of the Hérault sub-prefecture. At the time, it aroused strong opposition from parents’ federations and teachers’ unions.
