Lost Place: Nature reclaims abandoned soccer stadium

Watch the video: Creepy Lost Place – nature reclaims abandoned football stadium.

Abandoned football stadium in Northern Ireland – scenes straight out of a ghost town.

The stadium was originally built in 1980 for a local football club.

Up until five years ago, the stadium belonged to Drumahoe FC.

Heavy rain in 2017 caused severe flooding in Londonderry and neighboring towns.

As a result, parts of the stadium were under water up to two meters deep.

The floods have left a large layer of sediment on the pitch.

Since then, the stadium has continued to grow.

The football club has no choice but to leave the stadium and move to the nearby “Brandywell Stadium”.

Today it is one of Londonderry’s many ‘Lost Places’.

As a result of the 2017 flood, many buildings had to be abandoned.

This place is no longer visited by spectators, but exclusively by adventure tourists.
