The past few days have been pretty stressful for Martin Burkert, head of the railway and transport union (EVG). The EVG let the negotiations with Deutsche Bahn fail about a new collective agreement, which Burkert had to explain in several interviews. The ballot is being prepared, arbitration may be pending, warning strikes could be imminent. There is hardly a breather for the union boss.
