It’s not often that important paintings disappear quietly, only to reappear decades later, without any theft, robbery or other dramatic events. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s “Dance in Variety (Tap Dance)” is obviously such a case. Around 100 years after it was last seen in public, it is back: a “sensational rediscovery,” says the Munich auction house Ketterer, which plans to auction it off on June 7th for two to three million euros.
