The standoff continues. The British government did not appreciate Wednesday, October 27 the retaliatory measures taken against it by France in the context of the conflict between them on the number of licenses granted to French fishermen after Brexit in the Channel Islands.
“The threats from France are disappointing and disproportionate, and do not correspond to what one might expect from a close ally and partner”said a government spokesperson, quoted in a tweet from British Secretary of State for Brexit David Frost, denouncing the lack of “official communication from the French government on this subject”.

“What we are seeing today is that almost 50% of the licenses to which we are entitled are missing. It is a situation which is not acceptable and I say it clearly, our patience is reaching its limits”, said Gabriel Attal earlier today. He had announced the entry into force of French sanctions against his British neighbor from November 2.
