The series not to be missed in June

“Mixed” and the sexual revolution of the sixties

Welcome to Lycée Voltaire! At the start of the 1963 school year, the high school in the small town of Saint-Jean-d’Angély welcomed girls into its enclosure for the first time. They are 11 for hundreds of boys! Through the journeys of the naive Michèle and her brother, the handsome Jean-Pierre, the brilliant and beautiful Annick, the cheerful Pied-Noir of Algeria Simone, the emotional Pichon and Laubrac, the kid of the ‘assistance, Mixed depicts the teens who will make the societal and sexual revolution of 1968. The series created by Marie Roussin (The Red Bracelets, A French Village, Borgia), at the crossroads between teen drama and family comedy, tackles head-on the question of male-female relations in France in the 1960s, and mischievously deconstructs today’s sexism.

“Lisey’s Story”, a thriller by Stephen King

A series inspired by the eponymous bestseller by Stephen King and adapted by the great master of horror himself! Lisey’s Story, directed by Pablo Larraín and produced by JJ Abrams and available June 4 on Apple TV +, stars Lisey Landon (Julianne Moore), the widow of an American writer as famous as he is tormented (Clive Owen). While tidying up her late husband’s desk, Lisey will find a kind of treasure hunt left to her attention by her husband, forcing her to delve into her past. At the same time, she is confronted with the deterioration of her sister’s mental health and becomes the target of a fan completely obsessed with Scott’s work… A thriller that promises to be thrilling!

“Lupine, part 2”, the new plan of Assane

The world’s most watched French series returns to Netflix on June 11! In Lupine, a series freely adapted from the work of Maurice Leblanc, Omar Sy plays Assane Diop, a gentleman burglar who undertakes to avenge his father for an injustice inflicted twenty-five years before … But in wanting to take revenge on Pellegrini, Assane destroyed his own family. Cornered, he is forced to devise a new plan to eliminate Pellegrini. Even if it means putting oneself in danger.

“Sweet Tooth”, a dreamlike road trip

Sweet Tooth, available June 4, is the first collaboration between Team Downey, the production company created by Robert Downey Jr. and his wife Susan Downey, for Netflix. Based on the comic book of the same name by Jeff Lemire, the series is set in a world where ten years ago, The Great Crumble wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrid babies, which many humans fear and hunt. Sweet tooth follows the adventures of an adorable half-human, half-deer boy named Gus (Christian Convery) who unexpectedly befriends a wandering gruff named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together, they embark on a perilous adventure in post-apocalyptic America… A dreamlike road trip in a hostile world.

“Loki” and the Tesseract

After WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Disney + unveils a new Marvel Studios series on June 9, Loki. While Loki was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, the story takes place earlier, in 2012, in an alternate reality created by the Avengers’ Time Heist after the 2012 Loki escaped with the Tesseract. The ideal tool for the God of Malice to wreak havoc! But Loki will be pinched by the Tribunal des Variations Anachroniques (or TVA), an organization in charge of settling temporal anomalies. Comedians Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E. Grant round out the cast. The series is directed by Kate Herron and scripted by Michael Waldron.
