Logitech Magic Keyboard alternative for iPad Pro M4

It doesn’t have to be Apple’s original Magic Keyboard: Peripheral provider Logitech has introduced four new keyboard folios for Apple’s latest tablets. The devices are named Combo touch and are intended for iPad Air M2 in 11 and 13 inches as well as for iPad Pro M4 with 11 and 13 inches. The structure is reminiscent of Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad 10: An iPad case with a folding base (kickstand) meets a keyboard that also serves as a screen protector.

The keyboard can be removed if desired, for example to read or watch videos. The kickstand allows a total of four different modes of use, including one for drawing with a stylus. Bluetooth is not necessary because, as with previous models, Logitech has certification for Apple’s Smart Connector, which ensures both the connection to the iPad and the power supply to the keyboard.

Like Apple’s new Magic Keyboard, the Combo Touch comes with function keys for media playback and volume, among other things. A trackpad is integrated in the lower area of the keyboard. The keys have automatic backlighting, which can alternatively be adjusted to 16 levels.

Logitech charges 229 or 259 euros (11/13 inches) for the Combo Touch on the iPad Air M2. For the iPad Pro M4 it is 259 or 299 euros (also 11/13 inches). It’s not cheap, but it’s still cheaper than Apple’s Magic Keyboard – it costs 349 or 399 euros, although only the version for the iPad Pro M4 has been overhauled with an additional row of keys. The Combo Touch for the iPad Air M2 weighs 495 and 685.9 grams respectively; for the iPad Air M4 it is 474 and 660 grams.

The adjustable viewing angle via the kickstand is 10 to 60 degrees. The iPad Pro version has several colors (graphite, Oxford gray, sand), while the Air version only has one (graphite). According to Logitech, the German version will be delivered “soon”. The company has also been offering its own pen for a long time, which you can buy for 89 euros.
