Loch Ness Monster: The Origins of “Nessie”

Prehistoric dinosaur, big eel or even demonic entity from another world, the theories around the Loch Ness monster are not lacking. So much so that a giant hunt was organized this weekend to try to find traces of life of the legendary animal. Equipped with drones with thermal scanners, boats with infrared cameras, and hydrophones, scientists and enthusiasts observed and scanned the waters of the loch in the Highlands.

The monster nicknamed “Nessie”, is an old legend dating back to 565 AD which had its heyday ninety years ago. In the 1930s, the testimonies recounting an encounter with the unknown animal multiplied in the newspapers. In 1934, the DailyMail publishes the first image of the monster which turns out to be a hoax carried out by the English doctor Robert Wilson. Regardless, “Nessie” fascinates the whole world and her legend lives on.
