Local trade: Graefelfing and Planegg rely on the Würmtalcard – District of Munich

Just in time for Christmas time, the communities of Planegg and Graefelfing are presenting their new Würmtalcard. It transfers the previous Würmtal gift vouchers to digital. The plastic card in the style of a credit card has it all: You can use it to shop cashlessly, purchase it as an attractive gift and at the same time get significant discounts on selected products in many shops in the participating communities.

Over the next few days, around ten thousand households in Planegg and Graefelfing will be contacted and their attention will be drawn to the card. Anyone who registers their Würmtalcard by January 31, 2022 – this can be done in the town halls and all the shops involved – automatically takes part in an attractive competition. The winners will be credited with amounts of money for one year.

The two economic consultants Sabine Strack from Graefelfing and Bärbel Zeller from Planegg explained the function of the card at the presentation on Tuesday: It is available as a voucher card, bonus card and employee card. The voucher card can be obtained free of charge in all shops and town halls and can be topped up there up to an amount of 250 euros. If you want to have an overview of your account, you have to download a corresponding app. The Bonuscard enables discounts on certain products. And finally, the employee card is an attractive gift from entrepreneurs to their employees: tax-free amounts of up to 44 euros – from next year 50 euros – can be loaded onto the card, as can tax-free benefits in kind as credit.

These sums of money are to be spent in the region and thus benefit the Würmtal trade. Graefelfing’s Mayor Peter Köstler (CSU) believes that the Würmtalcard has now entered the digital age under the motto “Together we are strong”. The card is a “great instrument for economic development”. His Planegg colleague Hermann Nafziger (CSU) sees “the Würmtal brand” as strengthened. So far, 40 shops, service providers and restaurants are taking part, and more – including supermarkets – are to follow quickly.
