First Saxony, then Thuringia and now Saarland: The Sahra Wagenknecht alliance has founded its third regional association nationwide. There is also a dual leadership here.

The alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) has founded a regional association in Saarland. A board of directors was also elected at the founding meeting in Merzig, Saarland: At the top are the former Left state chairmen Astrid Schramm and Randolf Jobst, as a spokeswoman for the BSW announced after the election. The BSW will run in the local elections in Saarland on June 9th in individual municipalities – for example in Ottweiler and Dillingen.

The Saarland regional association of the BSW is the third in the country after Saxony and Thuringia of the party, which was founded in January. The BSW currently has 24 members in Saarland. The party announced that the number of members will increase shortly. In addition, there are already 250 registered supporters in the Saar. Party leader Sahra Wagenknecht, who lives in Merzig, sees a lot of potential for the new party in Saarland.

The BSW currently has 500 members nationwide. The next establishment of a state association will take place in Brandenburg at the beginning of May at the latest, said Wagenknecht. The other associations are expected to start in the fall. The 54-year-old and her husband Oskar Lafontaine (BSW) were there when the company was founded in Merzig.
