LMU: Workshop on the relationship between the Nobel Prize in Literature and PEN. – Munich

A world of literature without the Nobel Prize and PEN International is hard to imagine. From Thursday to Friday, June 29th to 30th, a workshop at the LMU Munich will be dedicated to the relationship between the writers’ association and the literary prize: What story connects the two? “Was it a matter of competition, or of mutual stimulation?” will be one of many questions.

To pursue these, various representatives of the literary world will speak: On the opening day, Georg M. Oswald (“In our circles”) and Anna Maria Stadler (“Maremma”) will read from their latest books, and they will also take part in the subsequent panel discussion SZeditor Hilmar Klute and Cornelia Zetzsche from PEN Germany. The following day consists of a series of lectures, Tim Lörke speaks about Thomas Mann as a Nobel Prize winner and PEN member.
