CHARS: F. ROUSSEL PLEADS FOR “A DEBATE IN PARLIAMENT”
After the sending of heavy tanks by the United States and Germany, Fabien Roussel would like “a debate in France in parliament and that we be seized of the question”, a “particularly worrying question”. On LCI, the national secretary of the PCF was skeptical of these deliveries, believing that “we have a duty of solidarity with Ukraine”, but “we have always said that we do not want to be co-belligerent”.
“There, everyone admits it, there is a milestone crossed”, by the delivery of “offensive weapons”, he affirmed, judging that this is a “serious choice of consequences, by taking a step that we have forbidden ourselves until now”. “We don’t want to enter a third world war, participate in or create the conditions for a conflict that is becoming generalized in Europe,” he said.
“I want to question the President of the Republic, (…) I want to have this debate” to be able to “take a position” on the subject, added the deputy from the North. He wishes to ask “precise questions” to Emmanuel Macron who should not take this decision alone according to him, on the consequences of a possible French delivery, “if there will be conditions, will they be used to going to Russian territory by the Ukrainians”, “would we assume the risk of entering into conflict with Russia”.
