Little brothers and sisters: The Prohaskas at the Gärtnerplatztheater – Munich

In a few days she will perform György Kurtág’s “Kafka Fragments” with Isabelle Faust at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, and in January Anna Prohaska will sing at the venerable Wigmore Hall in London. Before that, however, there is a small family reunion in Munich. On Wednesday, December 13th, the soprano will hold a concert evening at the Gärtnerplatztheater together with the tenor and Bavarian chamber singer Daniel Prohaska, her brother, who is ten years older. Little Brothers and Sisters, as the program is titled, present their very personal favorite songs, arias and duets from operas, operettas and musicals such as “Rusalka”, “Gräfin Mariza” or “West Side Story”, but also baroque music from Handel and folk -songs.

The Austrian-British-Irish siblings have a lot of musical ancestors in their family tree: the father was a senior director at the theater in Ulm, the mother was a singer, the grandfather was a conductor, the great-grandfather was a composer and the grandmother was a silent film pianist.
