Argentina is finally world champion again – and after the game all the dams broke for Messi and Co. Videos show what was going on with the players in the dressing room.

They had wanted it so badly – and in the end they made it. After the dramatic final victory on penalties against France, Argentina is again world champion after 36 years of waiting. After the award ceremony, all the players in the dressing room broke. Detached, Messi and Co celebrated their historic triumph, as videos from the stadium’s catacombs show.

Defender Nicolas Otamendi filmed the cabin party with particular enthusiasm. Via Instagram he let the fans participate extensively in the Argentine ecstasy. The videos, some of which last half an hour, show the players singing and jumping while Messi sits on the bench with a blissful smile and doesn’t want to let go of the World Cup trophy. They drink champagne and beer, and they seem to eat schnitzel with fries. Chucky, the killer doll, is also present at the celebration as a kind of mascot. A cellphone video of Argentina’s legendary striker Sergio Aguero shows that Messi didn’t sit on the dressing room bench either. Cup in hand, he’s bouncing around on the table in the middle of the room.

Messi had previously celebrated his greatest triumph on the pitch with his family, to which he himself contributed two goals and a converted penalty in a shoot-out. how Messi enjoys the historic moment in the final stadium in Qatar with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and their children.

Later, Argentina’s defense chief Otamendi also filmed how he and his teammates jumped exuberantly through the corridors of the stadium’s catacombs and boarded the players’ bus – of course still singing and dancing loudly. And that certainly wasn’t the end of Argentina’s celebrations.
