It actually sounded like good news that Finance Minister Christian Lindner announced to families last fall: Because the state will have to pay significantly more citizen’s money from 2024 to people who cannot earn their constitutionally guaranteed minimum subsistence, the tax allowances of all those citizens will also have to be paid who earn their living from their own income. In the future, adults should only be prosecuted by the tax office if they earn more than 11,784 euros instead of the current 10,908 euros. For children, according to the plan, the tax allowance will increase from a total of 8,952 to 9,540 euros.
