“Sexually transgressive behavior”: allegations against partners of Linda de Mol

After allegations of abusive behavior against participants in the popular talent show “The Voice of Holland” (TVOH), RTL Nederland has suspended broadcasting until further notice. The allegations are “very serious and shocking,” said the broadcaster. It is about “sexually transgressive behavior and abuse of power”. After the allegations by women became known through research by the public broadcaster BNNVARA Band leader Jeroen Rietbergen resigned on Saturday. According to the Dutch news agency ANP, Rietbergen had his lawyer explain that he wanted to “offer my sincere apologies to the women concerned for things I should never have done”.

The Dutch Newspaper “The Telegraph” reports that Rietbergen sent sexually explicit emails to women involved in the show and also had sexual contacts with some. He was not aware of any wrongdoing at the time. The 50-year-old appeared on the show as a bandleader and pianist.

According to Rietbergen, it is about events that happened a number of years ago. He has now realized that he had made mistakes and sought professional help. Thanks to therapy, he changed his behavior permanently. “My family is now together again, as difficult as the situation was for my wife and is now again.” According to the ANP, Linda de Mol’s manager said she did not want to comment at this time.

According to the ANP, only one of the accused men – also a musician – has been reported to the public prosecutor so far.

The casting format “The Voice” developed by Dutch TV producer John de Mol was launched in 2010, and the German version “The Voice of Germany” based on it has been around since 2011.
