Lille OSC wants to sell Renato Sanches: “If an offer comes, he can leave”
Ex-Bayern professional Renato Sanches is on the sales list at Lille OSC. But it’s not about sporting reasons.
The French champions OSC Lille are considering a sale of the former Bayern professional Renato Sanches. “I’ve already spoken to him. If there’s an offer from a big club, Renato can go. We’ll see what happens,” said club president Olivier Letang BFM Lille.
The 24-year-old Sanches was last six weeks out due to a meniscus injury and only celebrated his comeback at the beginning of October with a short appearance in the league game against Olympique Marseille (2-0). In the 1-0 defeat in the away game at Clermont Foot last weekend, he was already back in the starting line-up. In the championship season he was one of the extended regular players.
Lille press considerable debts
Lille press debts in the range of 200 million euros, so top performers such as Boubakary Soumare and goalkeeper Mike Maignan had to be sold in the summer. But the club needs more income. The market value of Sanches, who was voted the best young player at the EM 2016 and was not happy afterwards at Bayern, is loud transfermarkt.de at 30 million euros.
Last December, the then president and owner Gerard Lopez left OSC Lille, a Luxembourg investment fund took over the club and installed Letang as the new president. This is supposed to rehabilitate the association.
Due to the austerity course, successful coach Christophe Galtier had also left the club for Nice, under his successor Jocelyn Gourvennec Lille is currently only eleventh in Ligue 1.
