Has the new Captain America found his opponent? Giancarlo Esposito is said to be part of the illustrious cast of “Captain America 4”.

In the highly acclaimed series “Breaking Bad” (2008-2013) and its spin-off “Better Call Saul” (2015-2022), actor Giancarlo Esposito (66) displayed a terrifying presence. Soon, fans of the Marvel films will also be able to be convinced by her, as the US website “Variety” reports. According to this, it is now officially confirmed that the Gustavo Fring actor will be part of the cast of “Captain America: Brave New World”.

Given his convincing villain qualities – not only in “Breaking Bad” and the spin-off, but also in the superhero series “The Boys” (since 2019), for example – it is reasonable to assume that Esposito will once again play a villain in “Captain America 4”. However, what role the 66-year-old will play in the Marvel film has not yet been officially announced.

Esposito recently cleared up a rumor himself – he will not play the righteous superhero Charles “Professor X” Xavier, leader of the “X-Men”. The powerful telepath has already been played by veteran stars Patrick Stewart (83) and James McAvoy (45). According to “Variety”, Esposito revealed at a panel discussion that he will not follow in their footsteps.

Everything new in “Brave New World”

Instead of a new interpretation of a well-known hero, Esposito will probably portray a character from the Marvel comics that has not yet appeared in the cinema.

For the first time, the title character in the film is no longer played by Chris Evans (42), who saved the world as “Cap” in all “Avengers” films and solo appearances. In his place, as was thematized in “Avengers: Endgame” and the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”, the hero Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie, 45) takes over the symbolic shield.

“Captain America: Brave New World” is set to hit cinemas worldwide next year. In addition to Esposito, Harrison Ford (81), who is over 80 years old, will also be making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His part has already been confirmed; he will take over the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross from William Hurt (1950-2022), who died in 2022.
