LIGUE 1 – OM’s scores against PSG: Mbemba everywhere, Harit nowhere

Paul Lopez: 7

The Marseille goalkeeper was absolutely imperial on his line and in his one against one. He first quietly warmed his gloves on two strikes from Messi in the first five minutes before disgusting Hakimi (6th) then Mbappé (20th). On Neymar’s goal, he is completely helpless. The only slight shadow on the board, he must clean up his area on Messi’s free kick which came crashing into the bar (34th).

  • In short : Without him, Marseille would have taken on water.

Chancel Mbemba: 7

He was omnipresent. Half the time, he was busy extinguishing all offensive inclinations at Mbappé, to whom he responded with an impeccable reading of the game and an impressive athletic presence. The other half, he spent attacking, unbalancing Bernat on his side, and even attempted an acrobatic return (54th). He was more dangerous than Clauss in the right lane, that is to say. We could have said of him that he was irreproachable if one of his countless climbs had not cost him an absence on Neymar’s goal.

  • In short : Almost perfect.

Eric Bailly: Not rated

That OM lost in exchange with the injury of Bailly (41st) and the entry of Gigot! The Ivorian defender was in the process of imposing a big athletic challenge on the Parisian attackers who came to rub shoulders with him. Especially in Mbappé when he was back to the game (10th). He even allowed himself to scratch a few very high balloons.

Replaced by Samuel Gigot, which made a rather correct copy before completely tripping and cutting out Neymar (72nd). His expulsion condemned his people to suffer until the end of the match.

Leonardo Balerdi: 5.5

His first period was far too soft. On several occasions, he defends badly on Messi who arrives launched (4th, 28th) and has missed a few fairly easy raises. His second half was much better. His replacement in the center of the three-man defense did him good. He was less exposed to the accelerations of Messi and Mbappé and took out a few hot balls

  • In short : A two-sided game.

Nuno Tavares: 3.5

Marseille would have needed Nuno Tavares from the start of the season to reverse the balance of power. Instead, they played with a very unskillful left piston. Draft technically, he returned several balls to the recovery and got tangled up and offered a goal ball to Messi (3rd). Offensively, he had opportunities but made no good choices. Facing Donnarumma he completely tore his shot (26th) and when he framed (32nd), it was directly towards the Parisian goalkeeper.

  • In short : Where did the Tavares at the start of the season go?

Replaced by Issa Kaboré at the 71st

Jordan Veretout: 4

Defensively, in addition to a few scraped balls, he did not bring more than that. Offensively, he did nothing at all. Whether it’s with passes that are too imprecise (11th, 17th,), strikes without conviction (39th) or projections that are too shy throughout the match.

Replaced by Pap Gueye at the 79th

  • In short : Not precise enough.

Valentin Rongier: 5

The Parisians, in particular Neymar, were quite easily found in the midfield and had boulevards on the counter. It could have been worse if Rongier hadn’t worked like he did. After Gigot’s expulsion, he filled in the holes as best he could.

  • In short : Too much work to do to make a good match.

Jonathan Clauss: 4

He was not very present defensively. Even if it’s not really a flaw since Mbemba was huge on the right side of the three-man defense. It would even have been a good thing if he had been decisive in the Parisian half. But that was not the case. He made the wrong choice in a good central situation (16th) and lost his face to face against Donnarumma (53rd).

  • In short : It didn’t matter much for a more successful match.

Matteo Guendouzi: 5.5

Little in sight in the first quarter of an hour, he slowly gained momentum. He made himself available between the lines, annoyed Vitinha with his placement and was effective with his back to the game. He notably launched Clauss well on the wing at the quarter-hour mark. of energy, and would have deserved more success. It slowly faded away again, as Paris built its grip on the encounter.

  • In short : Influential but not decisive.

Amine Harit: 3

He was the fit man on the Olympian side when this match kicked off. But we would never have guessed from his performance. If he did try to speed up the game as he approached the surface, he was in permanent check, wasted opportunities with too timid strikes (23rd, 37th) and lacked creativity. Above all, he is at the origin of the somewhat naive loss of the ball which leads to the Parisian goal (45th + 1).

Replaced by Cengiz Under at the 71st

  • In short : Very tricky game.

Alexis Sanchez: 3.5

Alone at the forefront with uninspired Guendouzi and Harit around him, the score was difficult to play. But not impossible. He had a few rare opportunities but traded them badly. Like his pass for Harit intercepted on the counter (2nd) and his shot above five minutes later. Note however a superb pass for Jonathan Clauss above the defense (53rd) who deserved a better fate.

Replaced by Bamba Dieng at the 79th

  • In short : It would have had to be ultra-efficient.
