The criminal requisition for life was requested Monday against Monique Olivier, ex-wife of the rapist and serial killer Michel Fourniret, tried since November 28 by the Assize Court of Hauts-de-Seine, near Paris, for complicity in three kidnappings and murders of three young girls, including a British woman. “In view of the exceptional seriousness of the acts committed, the necessary protection of society”, the two attorneys general requested that a security period of 22 years be associated with this sentence.
The verdict is expected on Tuesday in this trial which began at the end of November, marked by the absence of Fourniret, who died in May 2021. Nicknamed “The Ogre of the Ardennes”, he was charged since 2020 in these crimes 35, 33 and 20 years old. . Decades of “suffering for families”, according to Me Corinne Herrmann, who defends the family of Marie-Angèle Domèce, an 18-year-old girl who disappeared in July 1988 in Auxerre, in Burgundy, south-east of Paris.
“The crimes committed justify it”
In 2018, Michel Fourniret confessed to his murder, as well as that of Joanna Parrish, a 20-year-old British woman whose body was found naked in the Yonne River in 1990. She was beaten, drugged and raped. Monique Olivier made her first confession to Belgian justice in 2005 on these two crimes. The third case concerns the disappearance of Estelle Mouzin, 9 years old, in January 2003 in Guermantes, near Paris.
“It is the maximum sentence that was requested because the crimes committed justify it, for me the prosecution’s requisitions are in line with what the families of victims that I represent were asking for,” commented Me Seban, lawyer for the families.
