LFI deputies seize the prosecutor after the prefect’s “Two slaps and to bed”

Three deputies from La France insoumise say they have seized the Montpellier prosecutor, after the remarks made on France Bleu Hérault, Monday, by the prefect, Hugues Moutouh.

“If tomorrow you catch your kid, let him take to the streets, to burn police vehicles or stone fire engines, loot shops… What is the method? It’s “Two slaps and in bed” “, had recommended the representative of the State, to the parents of the young thugs, who sowed the disorder in the big cities of France, after the death of Nahel, in Nanterre (Hauts- de-Seine), June 27.

“A call (…) to break the law”

Nathalie Oziol (LFI) and Sylvain Carrière (LFI), deputies for Hérault, and William Martinet (LFI), deputy for Yvelines, wrote to the prosecutor, telling him that these remarks could constitute “a breach of the law”. “This statement is a clear call to break the law because it encourages parents to use physical violence against their child,” say the three parliamentarians in this letter.

On the left, many political figures have condemned this exit from the prefect. In particular the deputy for Paris Aymeric Caron (REV), who recalled, on Twitter, that “hitting your child is prohibited (in addition to being profoundly stupid). “When a prefect advocates the culture of violence to combat violence”, lamented, meanwhile, Olivier Faure (PS), deputy of Seine-et-Marne and First Secretary of the PS.
