During an intervention by LFI deputy Carlos Martens Bilongo on the “drama of illegal immigration” at the National Assembly, this Thursday, November 3, RN deputy Grégoire de Fournas launched in the hemicycle “let them go back to Africa” or “let him return to Africa”. The President of the Assembly put an end to the session.
“This sentence was hijacked by LFI”
While the Prime Minister quickly condemned this outing and affirmed that “racism has no place in our democracy”, the offending MP spoke on BFM TV. To the question “What happened?”, the elected official replied: “One of our colleagues from La France insoumise asked a question about the SOS Méditerranée boat and spoke of the difficulties he had in docking in Europe and I replied ‘they are going back to Africa’. And this sentence was hijacked by LFI, which is looking for all the pretexts to interrupt sessions and incidents of sessions. They understood, which I find difficult to realise, that I was talking about the MP himself, which is entirely untrue.”

Before continuing: “It’s a manipulation that La France insoumise is used to, that is to say, to distort the words of its opponents to demonize them.” Regarding the origins of deputy Carlos Martens Bilongo, Grégoire de Fournas assures: “I have only seen one deputy of the nation, one of my colleagues as legitimate as me.”
