Martin Scorsese has been planning a biopic about Frank Sinatra for years. Now it’s getting concrete: Leonardo DiCaprio is supposed to take on the leading role.

The Hollywood dream duo Leonardo DiCaprio (49) and Martin Scorsese (81) are apparently planning their next project in the background. As the industry service “Variety” announced, star director Scorsese is currently working on a biopic about entertainer legend Frank Sinatra (1915-1998). Of course, the main role will be played by Oscar winner DiCaprio, who has already appeared in front of the camera for Scorsese six times.

As Ava Gardner (1922-1990), Sinatra’s second wife, none other than Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence (33) will be available. Although Lawrence has never worked with Scorsese, he knows DiCaprio from the satire “Don’t Look Up.” According to the report, nothing has been fixed yet.

The entire project could even fail: Scorsese has been trying to make a film about Sinatra for many years, but so far he has not been able to convince the surviving members of the Sinatra family to do so. The media have consistently reported several times in recent years that they have refused their consent in several attempts.

The idea has often been considered an official failure, and a series instead of a film has already been discussed. But now the project seems to be gaining momentum again. It was also speculated a few years ago that DiCaprio would take on the leading role. It was also reported that Robert De Niro (80) could play Sinatra’s great friend Dean Martin (1917-1995).

Tina Sinatra still hasn’t given her consent

According to “Variety”, the current status is still confusing: One of Sinatra’s daughters, Tina Sinatra (75), still controls her father’s estate and has still not given her final OK for the film project. Nevertheless, Scorsese has recently created new facts and has already largely put together the cast. Possibly also to be able to convince the family with big names like DiCaprio and Lawrence.

Frank Sinatra is still considered one of the greatest stars the United States of America has ever produced. Hits like “Strangers in the Night”, “New York, New York” and the legendary “My Way” brought him worldwide fame. He is considered the founder of the Rat Pack artist group, consisting, among others, of Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin, who toured together and were also seen in numerous films in the 1960s. Her film “Frankie and the Philistines”, which was released again in 2001 as a remake with George Clooney (62), Brad Pitt (60) and Matt Damon (53) as “Ocean’s Eleven”, will never be forgotten.

Frank Sinatra died on May 14, 1998 in Los Angeles from complications of a heart attack. He was 82 years old. All lights in Las Vegas were then turned off for three minutes in his honor.
