Lenbachhaus: New additions to the collection – Munich

The Lenbachhaus is expanding its collection of Blue Rider art: with the painting “Flowers and Yellow Thistles” (1913) and the woven carpet “Light Red Forms on Different Grey” (1935/50), two important works by Maria Franck- Marc to be bought. The former stands for her painterly creation of the 1910s with its expressive colors and composition. The Lenbachhaus now officially has the largest selection of Maria Franck-Marc works of any public institution. Four other works by the artist have been in the house since 2017 and 2019. The collection also includes works by the founders of the Blue Rider, Franz Marc and Wassily Kandinsky, as well as by artists such as August Macke, Gabriele Münter and Marianne von Werefkin. A selection of works by Maria Franck-Marc can currently be seen in the exhibition “Group Dynamics – The Blue Rider”.
