No one was really happy with the decision at the Book Fair publishing receptions on Thursday evening in Leipzig. Worded carefully. As a rule, discomfort on these occasions is politely covered up at all costs; after all, resentment doesn’t make a good impression. This time hardly anyone held back; unusually often they were even met with horror and anger. It was done “with the back to the audience” and the prize was badly damaged. What happened? The Leipzig Book Prize in the non-fiction category, next to the German Non-Fiction Prize the most important award for non-fictional works, went to Tom Holert in the afternoon for his volume “ca. 1972 – Violence, Environment, Identity, Method” from the small Leipzig art book publisher Spector Books .
