Lecture by Jeff Wall in the Munich Lenbachhaus – Munich

The master of staged photography, Jeff Wall, will speak about his art on Tuesday, January 30th at the Lenbachhaus. The Canadian photographer, born in 1946, is famous above all for his elaborately designed light boxes, in which seemingly everyday scenes can often be seen. But Wall also uses novels as well as paintings and sculptures as starting points for his picture narratives. He composes these down to the smallest detail and sometimes has them staged by a huge staff of actors. Jeff Wall is coming to Munich to give a lecture as part of the exhibition “Fragment of an Infinite Discourse” with works from the Jörg Johnen donation. In it he will also report on his time with Jörg Johnen as a gallery owner and talk about his current work. The Fondation Beyeler in Basel is dedicating a large exhibition to him from January 28th.
